Lager is a deaf 3-year-old (DOB February 2014) male merlequin Great Dane. He is generally calm for a 3-year-old and has tolerated other dogs he has met including small dogs and cats, though he is a little unsure of smaller animals. Despite his deafness and easygoing nature, Lager does not enjoy play or interaction with other dogs. He would likely be happiest as the only dog, or in a home with another dog who is very low key and not especially interested in having a canine playmate. Lager has done well meeting new people who understand he can be a little shy, but once he is comfortable he is very friendly and wants lots of attention! He may do okay with older/teenage children but does not do well with small children. Lager is usually very quiet and unobtrusive when with his people and he has good leash manners.
Lager is mostly crate trained however he does cry if he cannot find his people so his ideal home would be one where someone is around often. We are working on his trustworthiness when not crated. Due to his separation anxiety, he can be destructive but generally does okay alone for short periods of time. He is housebroken.
Lager is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and on monthly heartworm prevention.
